Note: "Post Treatments" include, but not limited to; coining, sizing,

closed forging, copper infiltration, machining, heat treatment,

induction hardening, stream treatment, tumbling (deburring),

shot blasting, shot peening, oil impregnation, and plating.

Accurate, dimensionally precise shapes in "as sintered" condition, with less tolerances and a more satisfactory surface roughness.
Intended products are attainable with less or no machining.
Self-lubricating, if required.
Good wear resistance.
As with conventional steels, supplementary treatments (such as surface treatment, electroplating, etc.) are applicable.
High productivity for mass production, resulting in less production cost than those produced by other processes.

Applications:

P/M parts are used in a variety of end products such as lock hardware, garden tractors, snowmobiles, automotive engines and transmissions, auto brake and steering systems. Other household items, such as washing machines, power tools, hardware, sporting arms, copiers, postage meters, off-road equipment, hunting knives, and hydraulic assemblies. Fishing rods and wristwatches even have some applications.
